Flooded timber viewed from a drone over a waterfowl property

Flooded Timber & Waterfowl

See the water before you move the dirt.

We use LiDAR on your ground, then run it through software we built ourselves so you can watch what floods, how big the pool gets and how deep it sits — at every stage, before a levee ever gets built.

Everybody wants flooded timber. Don't waste money and time building the levee in the wrong location or elevation.

Flooded timber is the hottest thing in duck hunting right now, and the ground under it is measured in inches. A levee in the wrong spot floods the wrong twenty acres, drowns oaks you wanted to keep, or holds four inches where you needed eighteen. That mistake costs real money to build and more to undo.

Guessing is optional now.

Our LiDAR sees through the canopy to bare earth at a resolution a topo map cannot touch. Feed that surface into our flood tool and you can slide the water level up and down and watch the pool grow, foot by foot, on your own property — before you call the dozer.

How it works

From flight to flood model in four steps.

Waterfowl habitat terrain captured by drone LiDAR
01
LiDAR flight
We fly the tract with LiDAR that punches through the canopy to the ground underneath.
Flood simulation over drone LiDAR terrain for duck impoundment design
02
Bare-earth model
Vegetation gets stripped out in processing, leaving the true ground surface at inch-level detail.
Water depth analysis for flooded timber from aerial LiDAR
03
Flood simulation
We run water across that surface stage by stage and record pool extent and depth at each one.
Planned impoundment area mapped by drone for waterfowl management
04
Your own tool link
You get a link to your property in the tool. Slide the stage, watch the water. Share it with your contractor.

3D Viewer

Nobody handed us this. We wrote it because clients kept asking the same question and a static contour map could not answer it. You get your own link — open it on a laptop or a phone and change the water up and down yourself.

Sample Project:
Flood modeling tool showing pool elevation over a bare-earth LiDAR terrain model
Drone LiDAR flood model showing flooded acreage at a set pool elevation
Depth map of a planned waterfowl impoundment from drone LiDAR data
Flooded timber pool boundary modeled from bare-earth terrain

Using the tool

Five minutes and you can run your own scenarios.

1
Open your project link & view the Layers
The link we send opens straight to your property. Works on a laptop (preferred) or a phone — give it a few seconds on a weak signal. All of your Layers reside in the Content Panel.
2
Measure & Draw
Take measurements or Draw annotations. All fully customizable.
3
Simulate Flow
Curious how the water would flow across your property? This section has arrows to simulate the flow direction.
4
Water Level
Simulate how the water would look if flooded at different elevations across your property.
5
Levee/Dam Design
Draw your levee however and wherever you want. See the CY of dirt required for the Levee, the Acres of water that is backed up from your design, the amount of water in the pool, and the average water depth.
6
Print, KML Export, Cross Section View, & Share
Print whatever view you want, send the files to Google Earth, View the Cross Section of an object, & Share with others!

What you get

Aerial map — an updated orthomosaic of your property, not months old
Bare-earth surface — LiDAR-derived, under the canopy
Contours — at the interval your contractor wants
Your own flood tool link — every stage, pool size and depth
Levee and water-control siting — based on what the data shows
Acreage flooded per stage — the number you actually plan around
Files your engineer can open — CAD, GIS or plain PDF

Pricing

$8.00 – $15.00
Per Acre
LiDAR flight plus the flood model
*Minimum fee may apply
Acreage — larger tracts price lower per acre
Ground control — tighter accuracy adds base station time

Building the levee too?

The same bare-earth model that predicts your flood also designs your impoundment levee — alignment, crown elevation, and cut and fill volumes before you move dirt. One flight covers both.
